Attorney Hillary L. Nevárez Matos graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the prestigious University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus in 2019, where she graduated as magna cum laude.
During college, she was an active member of the Pre Law-Society, which sparked her interest in justice and advocating for people’s rights. Her passion for justice led her to pursue a Juris Doctor degree, with a concentration in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure from the Interamerican University School of Law, where she graduated in 2022 with magna cum laude honors and achieved the Harvey B. Nackman Award, for outstanding performance in multidisciplinary legal clinic programs.
During her Juris Doctor, Nevárez-Matos was an active participant in the student community, she was part of her graduating class directive and also a member of various student associations including being part of the Innocence Project Student Association’s directive. This association’s objective was vindicating the rights of innocent people who were wrongfully accused and convicted. As a member of the association’s board, she had the opportunity to cooperate and actively participate in many campaigns and was able to obtain executive clemency for various innocent people who were wrongfully convicted.
Nevárez-Matos scored in the top 6th percentile of grades in the Bar Admission exam for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, showcasing her exceptional legal acumen and dedication to the legal profession. She is also licensed as a notary public in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Obtaining both titles within the short span of little less than a year.
Since then, Névarez-Matos has focused her practice on general torts litigation as well as estate/probate law of Puerto Rico. She possesses sharp investigating skills and works closely with her clients to ensure that the right strategies are put into place for a better understanding of each individual case and a more effective solution to her client’s problems. She always keeps the focus and objective to provide legal services of excellence, for the benefit and best interests of the client.
